Liberty sponsors school fees for students from disadvantaged families who can’t afford to
pay for their children’s education. At Liberty we believe that education is a key to
unlocking the country’s socio-economic challenges. This initiative started in 2010 and
by the end of 2014, we had sponsored about 80 students.
In 2015, we funded either partial or full scholarships a total of 75 high school
students. Among the sponsored students, 15 sat their KCSE in the year and produced
very good grades that will enable them to further their educations. We intend
keeping in touch with the students even after they finish their secondary education
in order to create a lasting bond and track their progression into the future.
We are pleased to report that in 2014 we continued with our already established partnership
with both Starehe Boys’ Centre and School and Starehe Girls Centre. We provided full
scholarship to one needy student in each of these schools, making four the total number of
needy students. We plan to continue these partnerships in the coming years as we aim to
increase the full scholarship category to needy students so we make a greater, more valuable
contribution to the education sector.
